Temperatures to reach +14 degrees in the afternoon
Latvia is expecting a rise in temperatures to between +10 and +14 degrees Celsius in the afternoon, after a chilly start to the day with some cloud coverage.
On Monday morning, skies across Latvia were partially covered with clouds and no precipitation was reported according to meteorological sources. The wind was mild, blowing from the south and southwest, with air quality deemed to be good to moderate. Morning temperatures varied across the country, ranging from -2.7 degrees Celsius in Madona and -2.1 degrees in Rucava to +2.1 degrees in Alūksne and +2.4 in Jēkabpils. The temperature at Liepāja Airport stood at -4 degrees at this time.
By the afternoon, forecasts indicate that temperatures will rise significantly, reaching between +10 and +14 degrees Celsius, albeit slightly cooler conditions may persist along the coast. The amount of cloud coverage will fluctuate throughout the day, with Sunday expected to be sunnier, especially in the Kurzeme region. There may also be a slight chance of brief rain in certain areas. The weather is largely influenced by a high-pressure system in the region.
In the capital city, Rīga, early morning observations showed abundant clouds with a south wind blowing at 1-3 meters per second, and temperatures ranging from -1 to +2 degrees Celsius. As the day progresses, the sun will mix with clouds, and no precipitation is anticipated, with temperatures expected to rise to around +13 degrees Celsius. This shift in weather patterns indicates a transition towards milder and more pleasant conditions, providing a stark contrast to the early morning chill.
