The Anambra State Police Command has announced the arrest of three individuals suspected of armed robbery and cult activities, along with the recovery of a stolen petrol tanker and numerous arms and ammunition. The arrests were made following credible intelligence leading police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad to a suspected criminal hideout in Ogidi, located in the Idemili North Local Government Area.

SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the command’s spokesman, highlighted that the police's continued operations successfully enhance safety and security in Anambra State, indicating a stringent approach towards combating crime. Since the beginning of the year, police have increased efforts to address the rising incidence of armed robbery and related crimes, making significant progress in reducing the threat posed by criminal groups in the area.

This operation reflects a broader trend in Nigeria where police forces are intensifying their crackdown on organized crime and cultism, which have become prevalent issues in various states.
