Kyung Hee University Establishes K-DX Big Data Analysis System for Data-Driven Decision Making
Kyung Hee University has launched the K-DX big data analysis system to support systematic decision-making by integrating educational, research, and administrative data.
Kyung Hee University has officially opened the K-DX big data analysis system aimed at transforming its decision-making process. This new system integrates various data sources scattered across the university, including educational, research, and administrative data, allowing for more analytical and informed decisions rather than relying solely on intuition. The initiative goes beyond traditional Management Information Systems (MIS) to establish Advanced Information Systems (EIS) and Decision Support Systems (DSS), enhancing the university's capability to make data-driven decisions at all levels of management.
The K-DX system features the creation of 143 data marts that compile essential data from various university sectors, such as academic affairs, research collaboration, and administration. This enables strategic planning by top executives, including the president and vice-presidents, and also supports departmental leaders in making precise decisions based on relevant data. Key functionalities of the system include visual reporting of critical university metrics like student performance, research output, financial status, and internationalization, along with benchmark analysis against competing universities.
Operationally, the K-DX system is designed for accessibility by Kyung Hee faculty and staff, using existing portal accounts for ease of access. Strict security measures are in place for data management, requiring users to specify the purpose when downloading files to adhere to university security policies. According to Park Ha-il, the planning coordination director, this digital transformation initiative is central to maximizing core capabilities based on objective indicators, with plans for continuous maintenance and enhancement of the system to expand data marts and introduce further analytical reports in the future.
