Two vehicles were seized in Fortaleza for illegally circulating in protected dunes, as part of an operation involving local authorities.
On Sunday morning, two vehicles were seized for circulating irregularly in the Sabiaguaba dunes, located in Fortaleza, Brazil. This operation was conducted by the Fortaleza Inspection Agency (Agefis), with support from the Municipal Guard and the Municipal Traffic and Citizenship Autarchy (AMC). The vehicles were detected using drones, which captured images of the cars parked within the boundaries of the Municipal Natural Park of Sabiaguaba Dunes, an area designated as an Environmental Protection Zone (ZPA-3), where vehicle circulation is strictly prohibited.
The Agefis reported that the drivers were cited for driving in a protected area, and after administrative procedures were completed, the seized vehicles were towed away by AMC support and taken to the agency's yard. This enforcement action is part of broader efforts to protect the delicate ecosystem of the Sabiaguaba dunes, which is recognized for its ecological significance and biodiversity.
The Sabiaguaba Dunes Natural Park is one of the key protected areas in Fortaleza, known for its unique landscapes and environmental importance. By conducting operations like this, local authorities aim to deter illegal activities that threaten the areaβs natural resources and to promote awareness among the public regarding environmental conservation. Such initiatives reflect an ongoing commitment to preserving Brazil's natural heritage amidst growing urban pressures.
