Football player and coach A. Ulevičius has died – in the past defended the honor of Vilnius 'Žalgiris'

Antanas Ulevičius, a prominent figure in Lithuanian football, has died, as reported by the Kaunas District Football Federation (KAFF). Ulevičius enjoyed a distinguished career primarily as a goalkeeper, playing for various clubs including Panevėžys 'Statyba', Vilnius 'Žalgiris', and several teams in Russia. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching and worked at a football sports school in Kaunas, contributing to the development of future talents in Lithuanian football.
Throughout his career, Ulevičius achieved significant milestones, including a second-place finish in the Soviet Union 'Vilties' Cup with the Lithuanian SSR youth team in 1967 and winning titles such as the championship of the Soviet Armed Forces in 1974. He was also instrumental in leading 'Atletas' to gold in the LTSR football championships in 1970, along with multiple victories in the 'Tiesos' Cup with 'Kelininkas' in 1979 and 1980. His legacy in Lithuanian football is marked by both his competitive achievements and his dedication to coaching.
The funeral services for Ulevičius will take place at Rekviem Funeral Home in Kaunas on March 25 from 4 PM, with the urn to be taken out on March 26 at 1 PM. His passing is a loss not only for his family and friends but also for the Lithuanian football community that he has positively influenced over several decades.
