A’Ibom IGR hits N7bn monthly after TSA implementation — Gov Eno
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State reports that the state's internally generated revenue has increased to N7 billion monthly following the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy.
Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria, has announced a remarkable increase in the state's internally generated revenue, rising from N2 billion to N7 billion monthly within three months of implementing the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy. This policy, which came into effect on January 1, 2026, requires all state Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to deposit their revenues into a unified account, thereby enhancing transparency and financial management. Governor Eno expressed strong support for this policy during a prayer service, emphasizing the importance of creating a self-sustaining financial environment for the state.
In his remarks at the Government House Monthly Prayer Service, Governor Eno highlighted his administration's goals for improving financial autonomy in Akwa Ibom. He stated that the timely remittance of government revenues into the TSA will not only strengthen the state's budgetary framework but also ensure that workers' salaries can be reliably paid. This commitment aligns with Eno's vision of transforming Akwa Ibom into a financially independent state, potentially reducing reliance on federal allocations.
The successful implementation of the TSA thus far signals a positive shift in fiscal management for Akwa Ibom State. Governor Eno has assured residents that the goal is to further increase the state's internally generated revenue, ensuring that the government can cater to its obligations and develop necessary infrastructure for the citizens. This focus on enhancing IGR is seen as a crucial step towards achieving overall economic stability for the state going forward.
