In 2025, Enugu State achieved a remarkable Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) of ₦406.77 billion, a substantial increase from the ₦180.5 billion earned in 2024. This achievement was reported by the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Emmanuel Ekene Nnamani, during a press briefing. The state had set a target of ₦509.9 billion for IGR but managed to reach approximately 80% of that goal, indicating a strong performance from the revenue collection body under the leadership of Governor Peter Mbah.

The 2025 revenue figures symbolize a significant advancement in the state’s fiscal health, showcasing enhanced fiscal resilience and sustainability. Nnamani highlighted that the growth was not only about numerical performance but also about improving the state's financial management strategies. The updated revenue collection reflects ongoing efforts to diversify and strengthen the state’s income sources, positioning it for more ambitious targets in the future.

Looking ahead, Enugu State is now setting its sights on an ambitious IGR target of ₦870 billion for 2026, aimed at further solidifying its economic foundation and ensuring sustainable development. This trajectory of growth is critical for the state’s future planning and the overall economic development, as it will provide the necessary funds for various public services and infrastructure projects, contributing to the broader economic landscape in Nigeria.
