A fire broke out in a Kaunas furniture store trading center: an exhibition sofa suddenly caught fire

A fire broke out shortly before midnight at a furniture trading center in Kaunas, Lithuania, causing damage and requiring intervention from the local fire service.

The incident occurred on Saturday night in Kaunas, where a fire ignited in a furniture trading center located on Savanorių Prospektas. The alarm was raised by the security operator of the store around 11:50 PM, who reported smoke emanating from inside the building. Prompt action from the fire service helped contain the situation.

According to the Kaunas Fire and Rescue Service, the fire originated from an exhibition sofa on the second floor of the store. Thanks to the automatic fire extinguishing system that activated, the fire was localized and extinguished before it could spread further. Fortunately, only the sofa and some electronic price tags were damaged in the incident; however, parts of the suspended ceiling also fell due to the heat.

Following the fire, electricity to the premises was cut off, and two smoke ventilators were employed to clear the area of smoke. In addition to the damage caused by the fire, both the first and second floors of the store experienced smoke damage, leading to water being used to cool down the affected areas. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damages incurred during the incident.
