Spring warmth embraces Finland – But then a change occurs

Finland is currently enjoying warm spring weather, but changes in the forecast suggest a shift in conditions soon.

Finland is experiencing a warm spring day, with temperatures in the southern and central parts reaching between 7 to 12 degrees Celsius, while the northern regions see temperatures between 4 to 8 degrees Celsius. Meteorologist Hannu Valta from the Finnish Meteorological Institute reports that sunny weather can be enjoyed in the south, with some sunny spells also in northern Finland, although cloud cover varies. In Lapland, clouds are expected to increase, and light snow or rain showers could occur in the most northern areas.

As the week progresses, the early part of the week will continue to be relatively mild, with temperatures reaching around 10 degrees Celsius in the southern and eastern parts of the country on Monday. However, scattered rain is forecast to move across the southern regions. In Lapland, there may also be occasional snow showers. Tuesday is predicted to remain sunny and warm in many areas, especially in the south, adding to the overall pleasant spring atmosphere before the weather changes.

The meteorological forecasts indicate a shift in conditions coming soon, with strong winds expected in the Gulf of Bothnia overnight into Monday. This forewarning prepares residents for a transition from the current spring warmth, highlighting the dynamic and ever-changing nature of Finland's weather, which can shift dramatically even within a short period.
