Warm turn in the weather - but only for a moment
Finland is set to experience a temporary warm weather pattern while the cold remains prevalent in other regions, according to meteorological forecasts.
A recent forecast from Foreca indicates that Finland will experience a brief warm spell amidst an overall cold climate, particularly with temperatures dropping significantly in the coming weeks. In the latter part of February, high pressure will dominate Finlandโs weather environment, leading to extreme cold conditions with reported temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius in Lapland and minus 21.6 degrees in southern Finland. This cold spell precedes a predicted shift to warmer weather later in the week.
Specifically, the forecast suggests that while Central Europe is expected to bask in significantly warmer conditions, Finland will find itself caught between this warmth and the cold stemming from severe conditions in Russia. The high-pressure system will bring a period of clear skies and sunny weather to many parts of Finland early in the week, although nights will remain notably colder than the days. By Thursday, a warm air mass is projected to arrive, raising temperatures in the western regions and around Oulu above zero degrees Celsius in certain areas.
As the week progresses, expectations for snowfall arise again, forecasting potential mixed precipitation, especially in the warmer areas of Finland. This highlights the variability in Finnish weather, where even amid a brief warm period, winter conditions are likely to linger, demonstrating the complexity of forecasting in the region at this time of year.
