Water accumulation was recorded in various sectors of Guayaquil due to the end of the tide period

Guayaquil experienced water accumulation in various areas as a result of the end of the tide period and rising sea levels, causing flooding in high-traffic zones.

On Saturday, several areas of Guayaquil reported significant water accumulation due to the conclusion of the tide period and a rise in sea levels, disrupting daily activities. High-traffic intersections like the Xavier Marcos and Aguirre bridges, as well as the intersection of 9 de Octubre and Malecón Simón Bolívar, faced inundation, impeding both vehicle and pedestrian movement.

Local authorities, including Segura EP, documented the water levels reaching up to 5.15 meters at high tide, highlighting the strain on the city's drainage systems. This surge prompted flooding incidents across multiple sectors within the city, particularly impacting areas like the avenue Barcelona near the Suburbio district.

In response to the flooding, inter-institutional coordination efforts were initiated involving agencies like Emapag EP and Interagua to address the affected locations. Their aim is to manage and alleviate the consequences of the flooding, ensuring better preparedness for similar challenges in the future.
