In the early hours of Wednesday, Guayaquil was hit by a heavy rainstorm that left several areas inundated with water. By 7:30 AM, the city's water company, Segura EP, reported difficulties across 37 different sectors due to the rainfall. Crews from Interagua were mobilized to various locations to unclog drains and facilitate the drainage of the accumulated water.

Commuters traveling from northern areas to the city center found themselves stuck in traffic for over an hour, making a usually short trip much longer.
