Park Jang-hee, publisher of JoongAng Ilbo, elected as the new president of the Korean Newspaper Association
Park Jang-hee has been elected as the new president of the Korean Newspaper Association amid challenging conditions for the newspaper industry.
On October 20, during its 64th regular general meeting held at the Korea Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, the Korean Newspaper Association announced the election of Park Jang-hee, the publisher of JoongAng Ilbo, as its 50th president. His term is set for two years, during which he will oversee the operations of the association representing 54 member companies. In addition to Park's election, 23 new executives, including 21 board members and 2 auditors, were also appointed during this meeting.
In his inaugural speech, Park expressed his recognition of the challenging management environment faced by the newspaper industry today. He acknowledged feeling a significant sense of responsibility and concern given the hurdles that lie ahead. However, Park expressed optimism about overcoming these difficulties by gathering insights and collective wisdom from the member publishers involved in the association.
