Kim Tae-hun, CEO of Hanbit Media, Elected as the 52nd President of the Korea Publishing Culture Association
Kim Tae-hun has been elected as the new president of the Korea Publishing Culture Association.
On the 24th, during the 82nd regular general meeting held at the Korea Press Center, Kim Tae-hun was elected as the 52nd president of the Korea Publishing Culture Association (KPCA), securing a three-year term. He won the election against Yang Tae-hwa, the CEO of Bisang Education, by receiving 187 votes from 351 participating companies out of a total of 519 that are obligated to vote. Kim, who founded Hanbit Media in 1993 and served as the president of the Korean Publishers Association from 2021 to 2023, plans to focus on strengthening publishing policies including electronic publishing and copyright issues.
In his election campaign, Kim emphasized the importance of collaborating with the government, National Assembly, and other organizations to enhance the budget for publishing initiatives. He also vowed to create a cooperative structure for various groups and publishers to strengthen the public's trust in the Seoul International Book Fair. In his speech after being elected, he expressed gratitude for the past president Yoon Cheol-ho's dedication over the last nine years and stressed the need for unity and communication within the association.
Additionally, the selection committee included representatives from various publishing companies, such as Na Young-chan from Gijeon Research and Kwon Hyuk-jae from Hakyeon Culture. Audit committee members were also selected without voting, as the number of candidates met the required limit. The committee is responsible for appointing directors, indicating a structured and organized approach within the KPCA as it begins its new leadership era under Kim's presidency.
