In India, a remarkable project has emerged in Madhya Pradesh where a section of highway has been painted bright red. This unusual choice of color is not merely for aesthetic appeal but is primarily aimed at reducing road accidents and safeguarding wildlife that frequently traverses this area. This stretch, known as the 'red road,' is part of a broader initiative designed to address the critical issue of wildlife crossings in a region that sees constant animal movement.

The project encompasses almost 12 kilometers within a natural reserve, emphasizing the importance of creating safe passages for animals. To facilitate this, 25 underpasses have been constructed, strategically located along common animal migration routes to ensure safe crossings. Additionally, metal fences have been erected on both sides of the highway to prevent wildlife from accessing the road, ultimately aiming to protect both animals and human drivers.
