Kalev and Tuul are crowned Estonian champions in long-distance freestyle
Christopher Kalev and Teesi Tuul won the Estonian championships in long-distance freestyle skiing events held in Tehvandi.
On Saturday, the long-distance freestyle skiing events of the Estonian championships took place at Tehvandi, where Christopher Kalev and Teesi Tuul triumphed in their respective categories. Kalev won the men's 30 km race with a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes, and 37.3 seconds, leaving Martin Himma in second place who lost to Kalev by 1 minute and 20.1 seconds, and Henri Roos who finished third with a time 1 minute and 53.5 seconds behind the leader. In the women's 20 km event, Teesi Tuul clinched the title with an impressive time of 56 minutes and 43.5 seconds. Mariel Merlii Pulles followed in second place, finishing 25.3 seconds behind Tuul, while Teiloora Ojaste secured third with a deficit of 2 minutes and 53.0 seconds. Initially scheduled for early February, the races were postponed to March 21 due to cold weather conditions, leading to a sunny spring competition. Additionally, on Friday, in the team sprint event, representatives from Emajรตe Ski Club, Stefan and Ralf Kivil, took first place with a time of 16 minutes and 19.0 seconds. Christopher Kalev and Henri Roos from Spordiklubi CFC finished 5.4 seconds behind in a notable performance, demonstrating the competitive spirit at this year's championships. Overall, the Estonian championships showcased the remarkable talents in the sport, with athletes overcoming challenges posed by the weather to deliver stellar performances.
