Scammer poses as INSS agent and diverts 85-year-old woman's retirement in MG

A 41-year-old man was arrested for fraudulently obtaining an 85-year-old woman's retirement funds by posing as an INSS agent in Brazil.

In the region of Abadia dos Dourados, a 41-year-old man was arrested for allegedly defrauding an 85-year-old woman in Santa Rosa da Serra. The suspect posed as an agent of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) to gain the victim's trust, accessing her bank card and conducting transactions that transferred her retirement funds into his own account using a card machine. This incident was reported by local police following complaints from the victim.

Authorities from the Military Highway Police (PMRv) were notified of the fraudulent activities and began an investigation, which led them to track the suspect's movements in a white Volkswagen Polo. After gathering sufficient information about the crime, the police managed to locate and detain the suspect on BR-352 in the Bonsucesso community. The rapid response highlights the police's commitment to addressing financial crimes, especially those targeting vulnerable populations such as the elderly.
