How to declare the Income Tax 2026?
Taxpayers required to declare the 2026 Income Tax can start preparing their declaration this weekend as the necessary software is now available for download.
Taxpayers in Brazil who are required to declare their 2026 Income Tax can begin the preparation this weekend, as the Federal Revenue Service has made the Declaration Generator Program (PGD) available for download. The declaration can be submitted through several methods, including the PGD software, the online system at e-CAC, or through the MIR (Meu Imposto de Renda) application or website. The deadline for submitting the tax declaration ends on May 29, and those who miss the deadline will incur a minimum fine of R$ 165.74, which can escalate to 20% of the due tax for the year.
As taxpayers get ready, they can take advantage of the weekend to organize their documents and gather income information. When starting the tax declaration, there are three options available: importing data from the previous year, starting from scratch, or, when available, using the pre-filled version. For most taxpayers, especially those using the same computer as last year, the import option is the most straightforward and time-efficient method for completing the declaration successfully.
