Volta Redonda presents educational game aimed at drug prevention
Volta Redonda has launched an online educational game designed to raise awareness about drug prevention as part of a school initiative.
The municipality of Volta Redonda, located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has introduced an innovative online game named "Jogo da Prevenção" as part of the second Drug Prevention Week in Schools. From October 16 to 20, this initiative aimed at educating students about the dangers of drug use while promoting health and self-care. The game is inspired by action video games and is tailored to engage youths by making the learning process about drug prevention interactive and engaging.
Developed in collaboration with the Brazilian Association of Studies on Alcohol and Other Drugs (Abead) and My Journey Tecnologia, the game emphasizes critical thinking and discussion around healthy choices and lifestyle alternatives. Players navigate through challenges while encountering symbolic villains representing real-life societal issues related to substance misuse. The local government aims for this educational tool to facilitate deeper conversations about drug prevention and empower students to reflect on their choices.
This educational initiative reflects a broader effort by the Volta Redonda municipality to tackle drug-related issues within the community. By incorporating technology and interactive gameplay, authorities hope to resonate better with students and increase awareness about the importance of staying drug-free. The introduction of such a game showcases a creative approach to public health education, which could set a precedent for similar future initiatives across Brazil and beyond.
