Military Police Uniform of Piauí Changes After About 20 Years; See New Model

The military police of Piauí, Brazil, have introduced a new uniform for their officers for the first time in nearly two decades, featuring a new dark blue color and updated identification elements.

The Piauí Military Police has officially unveiled a new uniform that will be worn by all of its more than 7,000 officers, marking the first significant change in nearly 20 years. This transition to a new dark blue uniform comes after the older uniforms, which primarily featured lighter tones such as military green, were prohibited from further use. The change is set to improve the appearance and functionality of police operations throughout the state.

The new uniform's design includes several updated features aimed at enhancing officer identification and professionalism. Each uniform will display the Piauí state flag on the right sleeve, the emblem of the Military Police on the left sleeve, and a breast badge that includes critical personal information such as the officer's operational name, blood type, and rank insignia. By implementing such clear identification elements, the PM aims to foster a stronger connection with the community and improve accountability within the force.

The official presentation ceremony of the new uniform occurred at the Command Headquarters in the Cristo Rei neighborhood of Teresina, signaling a broader initiative by the police to modernize their image and equipment. With 15,000 new uniforms distributed, the change not only revitalizes the visual aspects but also represents the ongoing efforts of the state's law enforcement to adapt to contemporary expectations and norms in policing.
