Over 3,500 police officers have been deployed in Piauí, Brazil, to enhance security during Carnival 2026, focusing on public safety across all municipalities.

The Police Military of Piauí has officially initiated its Carnival 2026 security operation with the deployment of over 3,500 officers throughout the state. This strategic reinforcement was announced during a ceremony at the Command-General Headquarters in Teresina, underlining the state's commitment to maintaining safety during the festive season. A significant effort is being made to ensure that popular Carnival destinations are well protected, particularly those municipalities expected to see a high influx of revelers.

Out of the total deployed forces, 1,000 officers have been specifically sent from the capital to enhance policing in areas with a higher concentration of carnival attendees. This operation will not only focus on the festive events but also maintain regular daily policing duties across all 224 municipalities in Piauí. The overarching strategy aims to provide a safe environment for all participants and prevent any potential incidents that could disrupt the celebrations.

According to Colonel Jacks Galvão, head of the General Operations Department, the strategy developed by the General Command emphasizes preventive measures and the guarantee of public order during Carnival. This proactive approach reflects the importance of public safety in festive periods, ensuring that both locals and tourists can enjoy the celebrations in a secure setting without fear of crime or disorder.
