Critical areas were documented, particularly in the Chilachito settlement, located along the Quevedo road. Residents described the sudden onset of the floodwaters, which began around 3:00 AM, prompting quick evacuations as water began to invade homes. Silvia Cisneros, a resident of Chilachito, detailed the frantic efforts of families to safeguard their lives and belongings in the face of rising water levels that quickly overwhelmed their surroundings.
In addition to the flooding, landslides in the area further complicated matters, isolating five different sectors within Santo Domingo. The situation remains a concern as heavy rains continue to pose threats, necessitating ongoing monitoring and response from local emergency services to ensure the safety of affected communities and to mitigate further damage from potential weather events.
