Penitentiary agent convicted of the murder of a PCC leader linked to the Gritzbach case
A penitentiary agent was convicted of the murders of a PCC leader and member, which were related to a sequence of revenge killings.
The São Paulo Justice condemned 42-year-old penitentiary agent David Moreira da Silva for the double murder of a leader and member of the criminal faction known as PCC (Primeiro Comando da Capital) that occurred in December 2021. This case triggered a series of revenge killings, culminating in the assassination of informant Antônio Vinícius Lopes Gritzbach, who was shot at São Paulo's International Airport three years later. Silva was implicated as the intermediary between Gritzbach, identified as the mastermind behind the murders, and the executor, Noé Alves Schaun.
On the day of the incident, two individuals, Anselmo Becheli Santa Fausta, known as Cara Preta, and Antônio Corona Neto, nicknamed Sem Sangue, were shot while seated in their vehicle in Vila Formosa, a neighborhood in São Paulo's eastern zone. The attack was executed by an assailant armed with an automatic pistol who fired approximately ten shots, resulting in both victims dying at the scene. Silva's defense team publicly expressed their deep dissatisfaction with the court's decision, asserting that he is innocent and maintains his denial of the allegations against him.
The implications of this conviction extend beyond Silva himself, highlighting the pervasive influence and violent nature of organized crime in São Paulo, particularly the PCC, which has been a major player in Brazil's criminal underworld. This case not only underscores the dangers that law enforcement agents can face but also emphasizes the complex dynamics of revenge and retribution within criminal networks, showing how it can lead to violent outcomes affecting multiple parties over time.
