Justice convicts PCC members involved in plan to murder prosecutor and prison director in SP
Two members of the PCC have been convicted for their involvement in a plot to assassinate a prosecutor and a prison director in São Paulo.
A court in Presidente Prudente, São Paulo, has convicted two members of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) for their roles in a conspiracy to murder prosecutor Lincoln Gakyia and prison director Roberto Medina. The ruling, confirmed by the São Paulo Court of Justice, highlighted the serious nature of the crime and underlined the state's ongoing battle against organized crime. The defendants, Victor Hugo da Silva, also known as 'Falcão', and Gabriel Custódio dos Santos, had been closely monitored during their trial, which took place in a local court before Judge Sizara Corral de Arêa Leão.
Victor Hugo da Silva received a sentence of five years in a closed regime prison along with a fine of 500 days' worth of wages. His responsibilities within the PCC included resolving disputes, enforcing rules, and overseeing compliance with the group's orders in São Paulo's western region. Additionally, he was tasked with planning assassinations, including deciding on the timing, location, and escape routes for attacks against rivals.
This conviction is part of a broader effort by Brazilian authorities to combat the influence of organized crime groups like PCC, which have been implicated in numerous violent crimes and drug trafficking operations. The sentencing of these members sends a message that the legal system remains resolute in addressing threats to security posed by these criminal organizations, particularly those targeting law enforcement officials and public figures.
