Expert reveals: Finnish equipment used to attack Russia

A military expert disclosed that Finnish vehicles were employed by Ukraine in attacks on Russian forces during the ongoing conflict.

In a recent segment on Iltalehti's Tilannestudio, military specialist Emil Kastehelmi revealed that Finnish military vehicles, specifically the 'Paseja' armored personnel carriers, were utilized by Ukraine to conduct operations against Russian forces. These operations occurred during battles in the Kursk region towards the end of 2024 and into 2025. Although no official statement has been released by Russia regarding these attacks, Kastehelmi highlighted that these encounters also involved equipment from other nations, including German, British, and American forces, underscoring the multinational nature of the conflict.

Kastehelmi emphasized the notable fact that the exact number of 'Paseja' vehicles that have been sent from Finland to Ukraine remains unknown. The first reports of these vehicles being deployed on the Ukrainian front emerged back in 2022. He also noted that the Ukrainian Marine Corps has reportedly made active use of the 'Paseja', showcasing its utility in the ongoing war. Recent information from March indicates that some 'Paseja' units were destroyed, which implies that these vehicles are still actively participating in frontline operations.

Moreover, Kastehelmi mentioned that there are videos circulating showing Russian forces capturing 'Paseja' vehicles, which contributes to the ongoing discourse around military equipment transfer and use in the Ukraine conflict. The involvement of Finnish equipment, albeit not officially recognized by Russia, raises important questions about the implications of such international military support and the broader geopolitical ramifications within the context of the war in Ukraine.
