Russian special forces trained near the Finnish border – Involved heavy weaponry

Russian special forces conducted a military exercise near the Finnish border, utilizing advanced weaponry including kamikaze drones.

Russian special forces from the National Guard, known as Rosgvardiya, held a military training exercise in Lapland on the Kola Peninsula, emphasizing the use of FPV-type kamikaze drones to eliminate 'armed saboteurs.' The exercise, attended by elite units of Rosgvardiya in collaboration with the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, took place in the Hiipinätunturi mountains, roughly 200 kilometers from the Finnish border.

The operation was led by Daniil Martynov, who has Chechen roots, and was also observed by Andrei Chibis, the governor of the Murmansk region. The primary goal of the exercise was to enhance cooperation among authorities in the Arctic region. According to Rosgvardiya, the special forces focused on locating and neutralizing armed sabotage groups, resulting in videos showcasing heavily armed soldiers maneuvering on skis and snowmobiles while engaging in drills.

The presence of advanced weaponry and tactics suggests a strategic initiative to bolster military readiness and demonstrate capability near the Finnish border. Given the geopolitical climate, this exercise may have implications for regional security and the monitoring of Russian military activities by neighboring countries, particularly Finland.
