District Youth Ring Dachau: Reporting Office for Right-Wing Extremist Crimes
The District Youth Ring Dachau is establishing a reporting office to address and develop local protective concepts for victims of right-wing extremist crimes in schools, following alarming survey results about anti-democratic incidents in Bavaria.
Manuel Liebig, head of the District Youth Ring (KJR) in Dachau, oversees a specialist department dedicated to democracy partnerships in the region. This initiative is part of the federal project "Living Democracy," aimed at creating protective measures for individuals affected by anti-democratic incidents. The motivation for establishing such a reporting office comes in light of a survey conducted by Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), which found that in the 2024/25 school year, two out of three schools in Bavaria experienced incidents hostile to democracy. The lack of official reporting on these incidents is troubling, as the Bavarian Ministry of Education rejects mandatory reporting requirements for schools.
