Political Education: Great Interest in Democracy Projects in the Dachau District

There is significant interest in democracy education and extremism prevention in the Dachau district, particularly in schools.

In the Dachau district of Germany, there has been a notable surge in interest surrounding democracy education and the prevention of extremism, especially among schools. This year alone, 18 applications for projects have been submitted to the District Youth Ring (KJR) Dachau. However, due to a limited budget of only 35,000 euros coming from the federal program "Live Democracy!", not all proposals can be funded, leading some organizations to reduce their offerings.

Manuel Liebig from KJR emphasizes the importance of these initiatives, stating that the high number of applications reflects the commitment of various organizations and community groups to promote democracy and respectful coexistence. The projects include workshops with engaging titles such as "Strong as a Lion," "Hero's Journey," and "Inner Warriors," where children and adolescents develop skills like self-assertion, resilience, and conflict resolution while also learning about democratic values.

In addition to workshops, the district is also exploring encounter and event formats to foster community engagement and democratic participation. These efforts are crucial in a time when democratic values are increasingly under scrutiny, highlighting the proactive steps being taken in local communities to cultivate a culture of democracy and mutual respect among the younger generation.
