Etuovi Warns: This Could Happen to You
Etuovi and Finland’s Cybersecurity Center warn about fraudulent messages targeting users of property rental sites.
Etuovi and Vuokraovi services, along with Finland's Transport and Communications Agency's Cybersecurity Center, are issuing a warning about deceptive messages misusing their platforms. These fraudulent communications are directed towards sellers and renters, claiming to originate from legitimate sources but actually redirecting victims to scam websites that closely resemble the real ones.
These scam sites trick users into entering sensitive financial information by suggesting that their accounts have been temporarily restricted and that identity verification is required within 24 hours. The website fails to adhere to privacy norms and engages in phishing, posing a significant risk to individuals who may unknowingly provide their bank details through the links provided in these messages.
In response to this alarming issue, Etuovi.com has taken measures by posting warnings on their site, urging users to exercise extreme caution when responding to messages regarding properties for sale. They explicitly state that they will never ask for bank or personal identification numbers through links and advise against sharing such sensitive information to prevent falling victim to these scams.
