This 'bad habit' could save your money

A significant percentage of Finns, particularly older individuals, are increasingly avoiding answering calls from unknown numbers, citing concerns about fraud.

A recent survey conducted by Fonecta has revealed that 9% of Finns refuse to answer phone calls from unknown numbers. The trend is more pronounced among older demographics, where 14% of individuals over 55 will not answer such calls. Notably, among those aged 55-64, the likelihood of answering anticipated calls has declined, with only 58% stating they would answer, down from 61% in a previous survey conducted in 2024. Furthermore, only 20% of individuals over 65 reported that they always answer calls from unknown numbers, a decrease from 28%. This trend is alarming, indicating an increasing distrust in communication due to the rise of scam calls.
