Oil refinery catches fire in Kuwait after drone attacks
Following drone attacks, a fire broke out at an oil refinery in Kuwait's Mina al-Ahmadi, according to state media.
On Friday, an oil refinery in Mina al-Ahmadi, Kuwait, caught fire due to several drone attacks. The official Kuwaiti news agency reported that these hostile drone strikes had hit the facility, sparking fires, but fortunately, there were no injuries reported. The local fire services are engaged in efforts to control the blaze, while multiple units of the oil refinery have been shut down for safety reasons.
Kuwait's military has announced that its air defense forces are responding to ongoing threats from hostile rockets and drones. Simultaneously, state media in the United Arab Emirates reported on similar threats emanating from Iran, indicating a broader regional conflict involving drone and missile strikes. This escalation could heighten tensions in the Gulf region as nations respond to perceived threats to their security.
Earlier on Friday, the Bahrain Ministry of Interior also reported that shrapnel from what they described as 'Iranian aggression' caused a fire in a warehouse, although it was confined without casualties. This underscores the risks that regional infrastructure faces amidst escalating conflicts and suggests that sovereign nations may need to strengthen their defensive measures in light of such aggressive actions.
