Kuwait: Fire at refinery after drone attack

A drone attack on Kuwait's Mina al-Ahmadi refinery caused a fire and partial shutdown of operations, with no reported injuries.

Kuwait's Mina al-Ahmadi refinery was struck by multiple drone attacks early Friday morning, leading to a fire that prompted the state oil company, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), to partially shut down operations for safety reasons. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

The attacks were part of a wider series of air assaults reported across the region involving the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait, where air defense systems were activated to intercept rockets targeting the countries. These developments underscore the increasing tensions and security challenges facing the Gulf region, particularly in light of ongoing conflicts and diplomatic disputes.

As regional air raid alerts sounded, Bahrain also reported activating its air defense sirens, while Saudi Arabia's defense ministry confirmed interception of a drone in the eastern part of the country. This escalation of drone attacks raises concerns about regional stability and the potential for further military actions in response to such threats, highlighting the escalating security dilemma in the Middle East.
