Ukrainian volunteers are organizing a cleanup at the Folk Music Museum in Kaunas

Ukrainian volunteers from the NGO "Heart of Ukraine" will participate in a community cleanup event at the Folk Music Museum in Kaunas, which serves as a shelter for Ukrainians fleeing the war.

Ukrainian volunteers are set to organize a cleanup event at the Folk Music Museum in Kaunas, Lithuania. This initiative, led by volunteers from the NGO "Heart of Ukraine," emphasizes community engagement and solidarity, inviting other residents of the city to join in the effort. The museum grounds were chosen as a gesture of gratitude since they have provided shelter to many Ukrainians fleeing from the extensive Russian invasion since the onset of the conflict.

The cleanup event is part of a broader initiative titled "Cleaning up Our European Home," which spans from November 2025 to April 2026. During this period, Ukrainian activists plan to conduct more than ten community cleanup events across nine European countries. This widespread initiative reflects the cooperative spirit among communities and aims to involve local populations in supporting Ukrainian refugees while enhancing environmental awareness.

On the Ukrainian side, the initiative is coordinated through "Strichka," a civic platform and mobile app designed for active Ukrainians living abroad. This organization plays a crucial role in orchestrating efforts that not only address community welfare but also foster connections between Ukrainian expatriates and local communities, highlighting the resilience and unity of Ukrainians even while they are away from their homeland.
