A self-proclaimed astrologer and 'godman' in Maharashtra has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman and exploiting several others, with authorities uncovering 58 explicit video clips during the investigation.
In a shocking turn of events in Nashik, Maharashtra, Ashok Kharat, a self-styled astrologer and 'godman' known as 'Captain Kharat', has been arrested by the police under serious allegations including drugging and repeatedly raping a married woman. The victim, a 35-year-old, reportedly fell prey to his deceptive claims about religious rituals and divine powers, leading to a prolonged period of abuse from November 2022 to December 2025. Such heinous acts not only underline the grave issue of exploitation by fake spiritual leaders but also raise significant alarm regarding women's safety in the region.
During a police raid at Kharat's office, authorities discovered a pen drive containing 58 explicit video clips, raising concerns about the potential involvement of high-profile women and celebrities.
