“If You Fall, Your Body will Turn into a Ball…” Preemptive Measures by Educational Authorities for BTS Concert
Ahead of BTS's comeback concert scheduled for the 21st in Gwanghwamun Square, educational authorities have issued guidelines to prevent safety incidents among students.
The upcoming BTS concert on the 21st at Gwanghwamun Square has prompted educational authorities in the Seoul metropolitan area to take proactive measures for student safety. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education distributed a notice to local elementary, middle, and high schools, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance due to the anticipated large crowds expected at the event. The notice encourages parents to guide their children on safety protocols when visiting densely populated locations, advising against visiting such areas whenever possible and to be aware of the risks of crowd crushes.
In addition to safety awareness, the Seoul education office outlined practical guidelines for students, suggesting they maintain a safe distance when moving through crowded spaces and to cooperate with safety personnel and police. Students are reminded to report any feelings of danger to emergency services by calling 112 or 119. Similarly, the Incheon Office of Education and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education have also issued comparable safety notices, emphasizing protocols such as avoiding overly crowded areas, knowing emergency exits beforehand, and moving cautiously within crowds while maintaining personal space.
In situations where individuals find themselves trapped within a crowd, the guidelines recommend not resisting the flow of the crowd and instead, to go with the flow while protecting one’s space for breathing. By following these precautions, students and concert-goers can better ensure their safety during what is expected to be a significant public event, reflecting a growing concern about crowd safety during large gatherings in South Korea.
