More than a million services to compatriots returning with 'Mexico Embraces You'

The Mexican government has provided over one million services to repatriated nationals through the 'Mexico Embraces You' program since January 2025.

The Mexican government, through its National Repatriation Strategy 'Mexico Embraces You', has reported offering over a million services to Mexican nationals repatriated from the United States. The information was disclosed by the Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, during a press conference led by President Claudia Sheinbaum. As of March 18 of this year, there have been approximately 189,830 registered returns, with the majority being via land and a significant portion through air travel.

This initiative focuses on providing various forms of support for returning compatriots, including accommodation, transportation to reunite with their families, and access to welfare programs. Rodríguez emphasized the initiative's comprehensive approach, covering essential services such as health care, job placement, education, and financial inclusion. This program was conceptualized by President Claudia Sheinbaum and aims to ensure that returning nationals feel welcomed and supported in their reintegration into Mexican society.

The scale of the initiative indicates a significant effort by the Mexican government to address the needs of its nationals coming back from abroad, especially given the context of increased migration trends in recent years. The program reflects a broader response to the socio-economic challenges faced by returning individuals and aims to facilitate their transition back into their home country, ultimately fostering a sense of community and belonging for all citizens.
