The Government of Mexico brings more than 91 thousand services and procedures to Jalisco with peace strategy
The Mexican government has deployed a comprehensive strategy in Jalisco, providing over 91,000 services and facilitating a gun buyback program to promote peace.
The Mexican government has initiated a broad inter-institutional effort in Jalisco to deliver more than 91,000 services and resources aimed at promoting peace and rebuilding communities. This initiative, led by Secretary of the Interior Rosa Icela Rodríguez, highlights the government's commitment to addressing the root causes of violence in the region. As part of this initiative, seven municipalities participated in a program called 'Yes to Disarmament, Yes to Peace,' where citizens voluntarily exchanged 82 firearms for cash, collaborating with the National Defense Secretariat and the Catholic Church.
During the report presented at the People's Conference led by President Claudia Sheinbaum, Rodríguez outlined various activities aimed at violence prevention in key municipalities, particularly Tlajomulco and Tlaquepaque. The program involved comprehensive outreach efforts, including 32,806 home visits across 33 neighborhoods, the establishment of Peace Committees, and the organization of Peace Fairs and public space recovery initiatives. Such activities are part of a broader context where the government is proactively seeking community involvement to alleviate concerns surrounding safety and violence in affected areas.
By engaging directly with local residents and facilitating programs that promote both safety and community bonding, the government aims to build trust and foster a culture of peace. The acknowledgment of collaboration with local entities like the Catholic Church indicates a multidisciplinary approach to tackling societal challenges and reflects an ongoing effort to transform the region through positive engagements. This initiative not only seeks to reduce violence but also to create an environment where citizens feel empowered to take part in restoring peace in their communities.
