Students, third-party worker and teachers report man for harassment inside UFPI
Students and staff at the Federal University of Piauí allege harassment and violence during a university event, leading to police involvement.
Students from the Social Work course and a contracted worker at the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI) in Teresina have accused a man of harassment and violence during a recent event held at the Center for Human Sciences and Letters. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday when one student recorded a complaint with the Civil Police, which has since begun an investigation. Although the suspect's name has not been released, it has been confirmed that other professors at the university also faced aggression during this event.
The events unfolded when a female student, who chose to remain anonymous, described that the suspect began shouting at her friend while they were on stage. She noted that when she returned from retrieving a microphone, she saw the man speaking loudly to her friend and touching her shoulder inappropriately. This troubling behavior prompted the student to intervene and inquire about the situation. The university's response indicates that they are actively monitoring the case and coordinating with their respective departments to address the situation adequately.
This incident raises significant concerns regarding safety and respect within academic environments. Awareness of harassment and violence in educational institutions is increasingly critical, as numerous reports highlight the need for effective policies and protective measures for students and staff alike. As the investigation progresses, it will be important to observe how the UFPI administration responds to both the allegations and the broader implications for campus culture.
