McDonald’s has opened its 37th restaurant in Ecuador, located in Carapungo, Quito, creating 60 new jobs for local youth.
McDonald’s, the global fast-food giant, inaugurated its 37th restaurant in Ecuador, located in the northern district of Carapungo, Quito. This new establishment marks a significant expansion as it is the first to open in the newly developed Plaza Comercial Calderón. The opening is part of McDonald’s ongoing efforts to increase its presence in the region and provide employment opportunities for local communities.
The newly opened restaurant is set to create 60 jobs, primarily aimed at young residents of the area. The company has announced that many of the new employees are participants in programs facilitated by Junior Achievement and El Triángulo, which focus on equipping young individuals with the skills necessary to enter the formal job market. This initiative highlights McDonald’s commitment to workplace inclusion and its role as a facilitator of youth employment in Ecuador.
Junior Achievement, an international non-profit organization active in over 120 countries, has partnered with McDonald's operating company, Arcos Dorados, since 2025. This collaboration aims to prepare young individuals for employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, thereby promoting economic development within communities. The opening of the Carapungo location not only emphasizes McDonald’s growth in Ecuador but also underscores the company’s dedication to fostering local talent and sustainable employment practices.
