EasyJet donates £150k of ex-crew devices to kids without tech for school
EasyJet has donated £150,000 worth of iPads to help disadvantaged children who lack access to technology for their education.
Budget airline EasyJet has made a generous donation of £150,000 worth of tablets that were previously utilized by its pilots and cabin crew. This initiative aims to support disadvantaged children who do not have proper access to technological resources required for their schooling. The donation consists of 500 iPads, which are being distributed nationwide to families and students in need, in collaboration with the Digital Poverty Alliance.
The Digital Poverty Alliance, an independent charity established in 2021, focuses on combating digital poverty in the UK, with the ambitious goal of eradicating it by 2030. EasyJet's contribution reflects a broader commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for underprivileged communities through improved access to digital tools. By signing the Digital Inclusion Charter, EasyJet has also pledged to continue donating iPads in the future, further supporting efforts to bridge the digital divide faced by low-income individuals and families.
The issue of digital poverty is particularly critical, as statistics indicate that at least one in five children in the UK lack sufficient access to digital devices. This causes significant barriers to educational success and social equity, especially in a time when online learning has become increasingly vital. Through this donation, EasyJet is not only addressing an immediate need but also contributing to a long-term solution that aims to empower children through technology and education.
