The capital is preparing to paint itself pink: the "Pink Vilnius" competition is announced
Vilnius is inviting local businesses and communities to participate creatively in the upcoming "Pink Vilnius" festival by decorating public spaces with pink accents inspired by the traditional cold beetroot soup festival.
The "Pink Vilnius" initiative encourages participation from local businesses, cafes, shops, hotels, and communities to creatively engage in the festival atmosphere by adorning their windows, facades, backyards, and public areas with pink accents. This year's campaign is tied to the celebration of the cold beetroot soup, a local delicacy known as 'šaltibarščiai'. The event, known as the Vilnius Pink Soup Fest, has become a testament to the city's inventive spirit in celebrating culinary and cultural traditions.
As part of the festivities, the color pink will not only dominate the event spaces but also be reflected in the attire of attendees and the general decor across the streets and social media channels. The push for a pink ambiance is aimed at expanding the joyful atmosphere beyond just the festival venues. According to Eglė Girdzijauskaitė, the communication director of the city’s tourism and business development agency "Go Vilnius", the campaign is designed to foster a collective celebration, inviting citizens to enhance their surroundings, share creative ideas and help cultivate the festival spirit that can be appreciated by both locals and visitors from around the globe.
Such initiatives are vital in creating a festive atmosphere that resonates beyond just Vilnius residents, also engaging tourists and visitors. As the city prepares for the cold beetroot soup festival, which is renowned for its colorful and lively celebration, there is a clear intention to make the event more inclusive and visually appealing, ensuring the vibrant energy spreads throughout the city.
