Aarhus is electing a new bishop due to the upcoming resignation of the current bishop, Henrik Wigh-Poulsen, at the end of April. The process involves not only the stifters' priests and members of church councils but also representatives from the ballot congregations. The second election round is set to commence on April 9 and will end on April 30, with the expectation that the new bishop will officially take office on June 1.
The election is significant for the Aarhus Stift as it involves a leadership change within the church community, which may influence its direction and operations in the years to come. Furthermore, the responsibility during the interim period will be handled by Domprovst Birgitte Graakjær Hjort, ensuring continuity while awaiting the new bishop's installation.
