Preparations for the Saeima Elections Continue According to the Planned Schedule, Emphasizes Zviedris
Preparations for the upcoming Saeima elections in Latvia are proceeding as scheduled, with no threat to democracy, insists the head of the Central Election Commission.
MΔris Zviedris, the head of the Central Election Commission (CVK), assured attendees at a special meeting of the Saeima's State Administration and Local Government Committee that preparations for the upcoming Saeima elections, scheduled for this fall, are on track. Following rising concerns over potential election fraud linked to state IT procurement practices, the CVK convened the meeting to hear from responsible authorities regarding these allegations and their implications on the election process. Despite these challenges, Zviedris reinforced that all necessary guidelines and procedures have been finalized, with polling stations confirmed throughout the country and recruitment of polling staff already underway in several local municipalities.
