More than 100,000 Acrean families accumulated debts in February, survey points out
A survey revealed that over 100,000 families in Acre, Brazil, are struggling with debts, with significant financial strain being noted in February 2023.
A recent survey conducted by the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services, and Tourism of Acre (Fecomércio-AC) indicates that more than 109,000 families in Acre, representing 82.3% of the total, are currently in debt. This alarming statistic reflects the ongoing financial challenges faced by the population, with an estimated 38.4% of these families having overdue bills for over 30 days, equating to about 50,915 households. The data highlights the increasing financial burden on families in the region during February 2023.
Despite the high levels of indebtedness, the survey suggests a slight improvement, as the number of families unable to pay their debts has decreased from 15,392 in January to 14,662 in February, marking a reduction of 4.98%. This decrease may indicate a small shift towards financial stability for some families, yet the overall strain remains significant. The report also notes that indebted families are allocating an average of 31.7% of their income to debt repayment, which is a higher percentage compared to earlier periods.
The findings shed light on the persistent economic challenges faced by families in Acre, highlighting the need for targeted social and economic interventions to assist these households. With ongoing financial pressures, including the recent emphasis on consumer debt management, it is essential for authorities and financial organizations to provide support and resources to help families regain their financial footing and reduce their indebtedness in the future.
