Bolt launches women’s ride-hailing service
Ride-hailing service Bolt has initiated the Women for Women service, allowing women to book rides exclusively from female drivers.
Ride-hailing service Bolt has recently announced the launch of a new initiative called Women for Women, aimed at providing a safe and comfortable transportation option for women by connecting them with female drivers. Mikael Uusivuori, Bolt’s country manager, emphasized that this service is not merely a new technical feature but reflects Bolt's commitment to ensuring that women can travel in Finnish cities on their own terms and safely.
Users of the Bolt app can opt for the Women for Women service after entering their destination, but they must verify their identity by uploading an official ID and a facial photo before confirming their first ride. This verification process is designed to enhance user trust and safety within the platform, as Bolt will authenticate the ID to ensure it matches the uploaded photo. Only after this verification can the customer proceed with their booking.
The verification doesn't stop there; drivers' identities are also confirmed during registration and consistently throughout their time on the service. This ongoing verification process aims to foster a secure environment for women traveling with Bolt's new service, ensuring peace of mind for passengers who might have concerns about using conventional ride-hailing options. The initiative is likely to resonate within the community and highlight the growing focus on safety concerns regarding women in transportation services.
