An extensive operation against drug trafficking in Piauí resulted in the seizure of weapons and other items, along with the execution of 56 search warrants.
In a major crackdown on drug trafficking and criminal organizations, law enforcement in Piauí executed 56 search and seizure warrants in the town of Demerval Lobão, near Teresina, on Thursday, November 19. The operation led to the confiscation of various illegal items including firearms, ammunition, cash, mobile phones, and even fighting roosters and cages that were likely used for illegal activities. This effort highlights the ongoing battle against organized crime in the region.
The Secretary of Public Security of Piauí (SSP-PI) reported that investigations had pinpointed residences and businesses utilized for drug storage and sales. Furthermore, individuals were reportedly employed to monitor these drug-pushing locations, indicating the sophisticated nature of the local trafficking network. The operation aims not only to confiscate illegal materials but also to disrupt the operational structure of these groups.
Delegating the operation, Laércio Evangelista, the head of the Organized Crime Action Repression Department (Draco), emphasized that this initiative stems from thorough investigative work. He stated that the goal is to remove illegal items from circulation and weaken the influence of criminal organizations in Piauí. This operation signifies a vital step in the sustained efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime in the state, reflecting increasing law enforcement commitment to addressing these persistent issues.
