The Seimas approved the spring session work program: priorities are security, social welfare

The Seimas of Lithuania has approved a comprehensive work program for the spring session, prioritizing security and social welfare with over 500 draft laws.

On Thursday, the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) approved the work program for the upcoming spring session, which includes over 500 legislative draft proposals submitted by President Gitanas Nausėda, the Government, and various parliamentary committees and factions. According to the Speaker of the Seimas, Juozas Olekas, this significant number highlights both the extensive workload ahead and the responsibility incumbent on lawmakers.

Each of the proposed projects relates to critical aspects of citizens' lives, such as the economy, social policy, education, healthcare, and state governance. Olekas emphasized the importance of not only discussing these legislative proposals but also ensuring that the decisions made are high-quality, well-considered, and oriented towards the long-term development of the state. This approach reflects a commitment to addressing the fundamental needs and expectations of the populace.

Among the key projects scheduled for discussion in the spring session are initiatives concerning military readiness in Kapčiamiesčio and Tauragės training areas, which aim to enhance the preparation capabilities of the Lithuanian Army. Additionally, there is a plan to strengthen the potential of the Riflemen's Union, further underscoring the focus on national defense and social welfare in the Seimas's agenda. This work program sets the stage for a proactive legislative period that addresses pressing national issues and aims to bolster the country's resilience and social infrastructure.
