Advisor of the Civil House of Pará is dismissed after being arrested by the Federal Police in operation regarding R$ 500,000 withdrawal in Belém
Michel Silva Ribeiro, advisor to the Civil House of Pará, was dismissed following his arrest by the Federal Police tied to a money laundering investigation.
In a significant development, Michel Silva Ribeiro, an advisor to the Civil House in Pará, was exonerated by Governor Helder Barbalho after being arrested on Monday, October 16. Ribeiro is suspected of being part of a group involved in money laundering activities linked to substantial contracts with the Cultural Foundation of Pará (FCP). His dismissal was formalized through a decree signed by the governor and published in the state’s official gazette, underscoring the government's swift action in addressing allegations of corruption within its ranks.
The Federal Police (PF) apprehended Ribeiro alongside two other individuals during an operation in Belém, where they are accused of orchestrating a questionable cash withdrawal amounting to R$ 500,000. Investigators believe that Ribeiro and his associates were implicated in laundering proceeds connected to substantial contracts awarded by the FCP. This situation raises serious concerns about the integrity of public officials and potential systemic corruption within state institutions.
Ribeiro had been serving as an advisor since August 2011 and was reportedly earning a salary of R$ 6,430.51 in February 2026, according to data from the Transparency Portal. The swift response from the state government in this case reflects an ongoing struggle against corruption in Brazilian politics, as public officials face increasing scrutiny and calls for accountability. The situation continues to develop as the PF conducts its investigation and attempts to uncover the full extent of the alleged corrupt activities.
