New President of the Korean Medical Biojournalists Association is Min Tae-won, Reporter at the Kukmin Ilbo

Min Tae-won has been appointed as the new president of the Korean Medical Biojournalists Association, succeeding Kim Gil-won.

The Korean Medical Biojournalists Association (KMBA) announced the appointment of Min Tae-won as its new president during a board meeting held on March 5. The inauguration ceremony for the new president took place on March 18. Min's term will last for two years, ending on March 19, 2026. Min has been with Kukmin Ilbo since January 1997, with experience in various editorial departments and specializing in medical journalism since 2019.

Min Tae-won is actively involved in several influential health-related committees, including the Health Promotion Policy Advisory Committee under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the evaluation committee for Seoul National University's pediatric cancer and rare disease support projects. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Medical Journalist Award from the Korean Medical Association in 2006 and the GSK Science Journalism Award in 2007. He has also published books focused on health and medicine.

In his acceptance speech, Min emphasized the significant growth of the KMBA since its establishment in March 2021 under the banner of 'Realizing Medical and Bio Journalism'. He indicated that it is now time for the association to solidify its foundations and expand its outreach, with plans to enhance member rights and strengthen journalism capabilities in emerging fields such as AI and digital health. Alongside Min, the association also appointed new vice presidents from prominent media outlets, furthering its commitment to responsible health journalism and effective communication between the medical community and the public.
