Truck crashes into guardrail, spills oil, and completely blocks Dutra highway in Lavrinhas, SP

A truck accident caused a complete closure of the São Paulo-bound lane of the Presidente Dutra Highway due to an oil spill from the vehicle.

A truck has crashed into a guardrail on the Presidente Dutra Highway (BR-116) near Lavrinhas, São Paulo, resulting in a complete blockage of the lane heading towards São Paulo. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, around 4:42 PM, as confirmed by the CCR RioSP, the company responsible for managing the highway section. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the accident.

The crash caused a significant diesel fuel spill from the truck’s tank, which has rendered the lane impassable for other vehicles. Traffic management and maintenance teams were deployed to the site to contain the spill and clean up the highway. This situation has led to a substantial traffic jam, with reports indicating congestion extending approximately 6 kilometers along the route towards Rio de Janeiro.

As of the latest updates, the São Paulo-bound lane remains completely closed, with no estimated time for reopening. The authorities are working diligently to resolve the situation, although the ongoing clean-up and containment efforts are likely to prolong the blockage, causing further delays for commuters traveling through this major transportation corridor.
